Christmas Films
I went to see Fred Clause during the weekend, it was a bit of a let down. I thought considering Vince Vaughan was in it, that it would be good, but oh no I was mistaken! Don't get me wrong it's not terrible but it certainly isn't terribly good either, it would not be considered by me as a good Christmas film. It definitely is not top shelf material like 'Miracle on 34th Street', my all time favourite Christmas film. A film which actually captures the spirit of Christmas.

I need a job
I quit work on Friday, I have decided it just isn't the job for me. I like bar work but I'd much rather work in a pub than in a hotel because at least in a pub you can have a bit of craic with the customers but in a hotel you have to be very professional, which is okay but it tends to get a bit annoying after a while and the hours are very long. So I told the owner and needless to say i broke the poor mans heart what with me being such a great worker and all :) so I'll be leaving around Christmas time so anybody with a job offer... let me know please.

Smoking
I was down town yesterday getting presents for Christmas and I walked by a boy, no more than nine years old I'd say. And there he was puffing away on a cigarette, at first I thought okay it must be one of them pretend ones, but I really don't think it was. Nine years of age and him smoking?? What is our country coming to? Besides how can someone so young even get cigarettes? Surely if he asked an adult to get him cigarettes the adult would have to have the sense to say no, wouldn't they?? I think the price of cigarettes should be pushed up to over ten euro, so many people in Ireland die from cancer caused by smoking so why do people continue to smoke the cancer sticks? I realise they are addictive but it's not like there isn't help out there to help you give them up.

HOW
Look at the video on the right handside just to see how bad things are for these children.
So I have told you all about work on Saturday night, the fund raiser for orphans in the Philippines, i checked out their website today because the talk they gave was really good and i wanted to find out more about what they do. The organisation is called HOW (Helping Orphans Worldwide). Some of the stories they told on Saturday night were very sad. The picture above is of two children, aged 9 & 10, in an overcrowded prison. The organisation managed to get them out of the prison and reunited them with their families. But there are many young imprisoned children that the organisation can't help. On Saturday they told us that the prisons are so overcrowded that the children are being made share beds, some of the children have to share beds with renowned paedophiles and everything, its very sad because a lot of the children are innocent or guilty of very petty crime. Some are just put into prisons because they have been abandoned.

Ross O'Carroll Kelly
I can't stop reading these books lately, I'm addicted to them. They are the funniest books i have read in ages. He is so cocky and full of himself, and what makes them so good is that everybody knows a guy that is in some way similar to Ross, and some of his one liners are gas!! Seriously you should read some of them, the author is a genius!!
American boys can drink!!
So as I said in my last blog, Nick had his family over from America, we decided we would bring his cousin Cormac out for a few drinks. He is only 18 and the legal age in America is 21, because of this we thought it would be a fairly cheap night, thinking two bottles and he would be on his ear. But this was not the case at all at all! We all met up in Clarkes pub on Peter St. Drogheda, we only had two drinks there, then we wandered down O'Sheas, 3EUR a drink, how could you go wrong? but we didn't have proper drinks, all we had were shots, don't ask me how but between myself and Nick we manages to spend 190EUR... 3EUR a drink, you do the math!! So then we went to the drink link at about half twelve, we had to take out money to pay into Earth nightclub. So we went to Earth and only got one more drink because the place is a rip off!! Turns out though as we were trying to get Cormac drunk we became the drunk ones, don't you just hate when that happens!! So American boys who still are not legal to drink can hold their drink better than Irish boys who have been legal the past three years.
