The Friday we finished college for Halloween myself, Megan and Louise got the bus home, I wanted to get the Matthews bus but they insisted that we get the Bus Eireann one. So we waited around in the cold for an extra fifteen minutes and then the bus arrived. The bus was getting fairly full but we managed to get seats beside each other. That bus journey was the longest bus trip ever!! It took us fifty five minutes to get home, Drogheda is only at the most a thirty minute drive away. When we got onto the North Road, we actually just stopped moving, we were stuck in the same place for about ten minutes because the traffic was so bad. Finally we arrived at the bus depot and we could get off. My friend is in college in England studying to be a primary teacher, she was off college for the week and had come home. So while everybody else was going to McDonald's I was going up to visit my friend. I walked over to the taxi rank at the back of the old shopping centre and there was no taxi's so then I went to the taxi rank on Peter St. were there was also no taxi's, I stood around waiting for one to come along. While I was waiting this woman came up to me, about mid forties I'd say, "Are you waiting on a taxi love?"
she said, I answered her telling her that I was. And then she began to go on a rant about how she has to get a taxi because she was in an accident. Clearly I played the old sympathetic role, just to be nice but then she seemed to think I was very interested in the whole subject and began to tell me that her sister-in-law told her she should go to a shrink because she had been in an accident. She also began to tell me about how much of a pain her sister-in-law is. While this was going on a man of about sixty was strolling down the road and stopped, put his face right up to mine and poked me in my nose and said 'how aaaaaaarrrreeee ya???', in a big bogger accent and then kept walking. I had never seen the man before in my life. At long last a taxi finally arrived, to say I was delighted would be an understatement! I thought I had got away from the crazy Drogheda people...but oohh no, it just wasn't going to be my day. The taxi man started giving out saying that the traffic in this town is a joke (which it is to be fair,) so I told him about the North Road being really busy. Then he proceeded to inform me that he was in 'fowl humor' because somebody had smashed the back window of his taxi during the week while there was a passenger in the back. I said God that's terrible, just to be polite. And then he took the bill out to show me, €270 big ones it cost him. At this stage he started to tell me that he knows who did it and that he'd get the money off him by Tuesday or he'd be getting a call from the Gardai. Then he went on to tell me that he had seen him today and threatened him, at this point I began to get a bit worried and scared of the crazy taxi man. So I said oh this is my stop I'll get out here, still a good ten minutes from my friends house. Drogheda people really are crazy!!! Thank God I'm from the outskirts :)

I am from Drogheda myself and I can assure you we are all not crazy. Come live in Dublin and experience the craziness here.
I am from Drogheda too. Were all not crazy. Them people who were speaking to you were just being polite. I'd rather someone who speaks then someone who says nothing thinking there something (stuck up).
